Farrall’s Group have achieved double success at the 2021 Family Business of the Year Awards organised by Family Business United (‘FBU’) taking home the Transport & Logistics title before being crowned North & Northern Ireland Family Business of the Year.

Catering for businesses of all sizes and across a diverse set of industries, Farrall’s Group provide expert logistics and warehousing solutions across the UK and Europe. Being one of the leading businesses in their sector, they are well known for their reliability and exceptional customer service.

This is a family firm with a real story to tell, starting out back in 1956 when Eddie and Joan made the choice to buy a lorry instead of getting married, founding Edwin C Farrall Transport. Since that day the business has gone from strength to strength and is now moving into the third generation, with exponential growth beyond Eddie and Joans’ wildest dreams. The business now includes a fleet of 65 vehicles, three warehouses, a vehicle workshop and over 100 employees who are integral to their success and keep the business moving forward.

Matthew Farrall, Joint Managing Director of Farrall’s is delighted with the awards. “It is a great honour to win these awards, especially as we prepare to celebrate our 65th anniversary. I am so proud to work alongside the rest of my family and for us to continue to go above and beyond my Grandad’s vision for Farrall’s Group. But, it is not without the great support of our team who work day in, day out to offer our customers exceptional service and allow us to sustainably grow. So, from the bottom of all our hearts these awards are in recognition of their efforts, to each member of Team FG past and present who have helped shape our business into the great family business that it is today,” adds Matthew.

As Paul Andrews, founder of FBU and organiser of these awards explains, “Family businesses are the engine room of the UK economy and these awards celebrate their contribution in terms of jobs provided, income generated and wealth created.”

“The family business sector has been instrumental in keeping the nation going during the pandemic and many in the sector have gone above and beyond too. Farrall’s Group are deserving of both these awards. First and foremost, it is a great business with values embedded firmly in their culture. Additionally, there are numerous family members from three generations involved today and their pride in being a family business really shines through. They are great ambassadors, not just for the family business sector, but for the transport sector too. They are totally deserving of all of the accolades they receive as a result of winning these awards,” concludes Paul.

Christian Mancier, Partner and Head of Family Business at Gorvins, sponsor of these awards adds, “Farrall’s Group are a fantastic family firm with a back story that is charming. This is not a family resting on their laurels and living in the past but one that is strongly invested in their future and the next stages of their journey.”

“Dating back to 1956 they are rightly proud of their heritage, culture and values that have helped them create a solid reputation in the sector and amongst their customers too. Throughout their journey they have stayed true to their values, built up strong governance and family leadership, and grown to become one of the leading firms in their sector. They continue to invest in the business, the infrastructure and their people and stood out amongst some great businesses to win these awards. We look forward to seeing what the future has in store for them,” concludes Christian.
